In the Research & Development Centre, product specialists and engineers are constantly working on the development, renewal and testing of wood chippers. In addition to the technical knowledge, the user's experience is just as important. By collecting feedback from the market, we tailor our machines to your wishes.
Testing, testing and testing again. Our wood chippers are put to the test before they are put on the market. It’s therefore not surprising that it takes an average of 2 to 3 years for a new wood chipper to be developed from sketch to a well-functioning, user-friendly and safe machine.
Before using the machine it is important that you first check if the input is empty. Wood chips left behind can prevent the machine from starting. Also check that all bolts and nuts are tight and make sure the emergency button is not pressed before the machine is started.
Are you using the wood chipper for the first time? Read the user manual carefully and assemble the machine as indicated in the installation manual.
All our wood chippers are equipped with a rotor chipping system. The pulling effect of this system and the gravitational force automatically pull in branches. This works quickly and efficiently. An additional advantage is that the wood chips are flung directly to the output by the rotational force, without the need for a separate system.
The rotor chipping system consists of a metal drum (the rotor) on which two PRO-blades are mounted that rotate along the counter blade at high speed. Thanks to the geometry of the entire chipping system, wood is cut across. This, in combination with the way the blades are sharpened, ensures little resistance during shredding and a nice size of the wood chips.
Aim the deflector and/or turnable output to where you want to have the wood chips and start the engine. Insert the branches into the input and release the branches as they are pulled in. Fresh wood is chipped most easily. It is therefore advisable to process the branches shortly after pruning.
Side branches thicker than 3 cm (2 cm for the GTS600 series) are best removed beforehand and entered separately. Thick branches must be introduced one by one and dosed. Ensure that the engine’s rotation speed does not drop too far.
Are you done? Then let the machine run empty for another 30 seconds to ensure that no wood chips are left in the shredder box.
Two PRO-blades are mounted on the rotor. These trapezoidal shaped blades are sharpened extra sharply and extra thick so that the bolts are sunk deep into the blade.
The blades have two cutting edges and can be turned when one side is blunt. If both sides are blunt, the blades can be sharpened and replaced later. Always have this done by an expert.
PRO-blades are made of a special metal alloy and have an extra-long life. Thanks to the special hardening process, the right balance has been found between the hardness and toughness of the metal and the blades are both durable and resilient.
It’s possible that the rotor is blocked as a result of too much (wet) material or wood chips left behind.
To unblock the rotor the machine has to be turned off. As an extra security you can remove the spark plug cap from the spark plug or with an electric engine remove the plug from the socket. Usually it is enough to put the supplied key on the rotor shaft in the bearing block and to turn the rotor back slightly. In the event of severe blockage, the input and output must be removed and cleaned. Also remove the remaining wood chips on the rotor or in the housing.
Note: the blades are razor sharp! Always wear cut-resistant gloves and use a branch or other tool to remove wood chips.
The wood chippers from GTM Professional are compactly built and take up little space on a trailer or in storage. Even a narrow alley or garden gate is often no obstacle. Do you want to transport a manually movable wood chipper in a car? That’s possible. By loosening up to 8 bolts, the input, output and push handle can be removed.
The construction has been carefully considered: the input, output and engine keep the machine in perfect balance. The machine can therefore stand on two rubber wheels and is easy to wheel by one person. In addition, the drive is placed under the input to prevent the machine from becoming unnecessarily large.
Always keep the wood chipper in a dry and frost-free place after use. Remove wood chips and dust from the machine with a dry brush or damp cloth. Never clean the machine with a high pressure cleaner.
To keep your machine in top condition it must be maintained depending on usage. Think of adjusting, changing or sharpening the blades, adjusting and replacing the V-belts and greasing the bearings.

Working with a wood chipper requires the highest safety requirements. That is why all GTM Professional wood chippers offer an independent emergency stop system and meet the latest European standards. For example, the length of the input ensures a safe distance from the chipping system, without compromising an accessible input height.
Our machines undergo the toughest safety tests, because for us the safety of the user comes first. For the certification of our machines, independent certification agencies like TÜV Rheinland are used.
A robust frame with a high rigidity ensures that the wood chippers retain their shape and stability. This ensures a smooth running, even with heavy use.
The wood chippers are equipped with SKF bearings, generally recognized as the best bearings in the industry. In addition, the machines are powder-coated for impact-resistant protection against corrosion and long-term colour retention.
